FRATERNAL HEALTH & SAFETY INITIATIVE

Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse Prevention

Sample Policy Statement

Although all of the Fraternal Health and Safety Initiative Consortium Members have policies in place regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs, the Advisory Panel and Consultant Staff crafted a model policy based upon best practices for consideration.

Alcohol and Other Drug Use Policy

The possession, sale, use or consumption of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, while on chapter premises*, or during a fraternity/sorority event, in any situation or endorsed by the chapter, or at any event an observer would associate with the fraternity/sorority. These must be in compliance with any and all applicable laws of the state, province, county, city, and institution of higher learning, and must comply with either BYOB or Third-Party Vendor Guidelines.

*NOTE: The possession, sale, use or consumption of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES on sorority chapter premises is strictly prohibited.

A chapter MAY rent or use a room or area in a tavern as defined above for an event held within the provision of this policy, including the use of a third party vendor and guest list.
